1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, grated cheese, minced garlic and parsley. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

2. Mix all the ingredients well until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.

3. With wet hands, form the meat mixture into evenly sized meatballs.

4. In a large skillet, heat some extra virgin olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs so that they do not overlap and cook them until they are well browned on all sides.

5. Once the meatballs are golden brown, add the tomato sauce to the pan, cover with a lid and lower the heat. Leave to simmer for about 20-30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked and the sauce has reduced and thickened slightly.
