Classic Creamy Rice Pudding

In a large saucepan, combine rice, 4 cups of milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, about 15-20 minutes.

Stir in the remaining 1 cup of milk, beaten egg, and raisins. Cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Mix well.

Pour pudding into a serving dish or dishes. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve warm or chill in the refrigerator before serving.
